Amazing

Again, this is very classical. I can tell there is some baroque influence on this piece. The choice of instrumentation is perfect.

The melody is perfect. The flute pulls it off very nicely. The harpischord was a very nice touch. I felt those big half note chords really helped to hold the rhythm of the song and actually accentuate the flute a bit. The cello does very nice to emove the song along and is very harmonic with the other instruments. I really like that cello.

Let's see. I understand the shortness, and it does nothing to lessen this songs score or quality. I did, however, feel there ought to be more to it, you know?

Nonetheless, fantastic job, be proud, 10's all around,

Wow

I like this song a lot, man. E major is a wonderful key. I might try writing in it...

Unlike most songs in the Classical section of NG, this is actually a classical song. Haha.

The melody is catchy and I was immediately hooked on the song. I also really like paying attention to the left hand in this song; I can tell you really put time in harmonizing (or maybe you didn't; major keys are usually easy). You might call this a bagatelle (Fur Elise is a bagatelle). However, it is very dance-y.

Seriously be proud of yourself. Great job. 5/5

Wow

Hey, MilkMan_Dan

Let me start off by saying that this song is very emotional. I was very moved the first time I heard it. Sorry it took me so long to stop by and review it.

At the beginning I found it quite nice and calm, but very intriguing. Mysterious even. Like beauty hidden in the shadows.

After that it gets very beautiful with the strings and such. The piano, I felt, was the life of the song. When the percussion comes in with it and the strings, it's very moving. Especially around 1:30.

What I like to call Part 2 (around 2:14) is very, very beautiful to my ears. From 2:59 on is my all-time favorite part of the song. The strings are wonderful. Everything is so harmonious. So beautiful.

I'm sorry that I can't critique or advise you about this song. I just want to say what an awesome job you did. You may not know much music theory, but it just goes to show...Passion is FAR more important than theory and rules. I have always loved your music. I hope that wherever life takes you, you are enjoying yourself. Have fun with whatever you do. Hopefully continue to compose.

Take it easy, (5/5, easily),

Rocky

Hello again

Hey, man. This is very nice, and familiar, sounding like it comes from "Revolutions." Anyway...

I am going to try and leave a more detailed review this time. I really like the seeming randomness of the song. Not really any melody. This is a good thing though. It does set your style. And the random buildups of tensity are nice.

Very nice instrumentation. I especially like the usage of strings. I admire your style, if indeed this is Mr. Davis.

Great Job. Also, I have an idea. Why not somehow put some kind of news up on your official site confirming that you made this profile. That would help. Just a suggestion :)

Wonderful job with the song. Hope to hear more soon. 5/5

The FilmMusic.com group manages my website, namely a fellow named Goldwasser. I don't have the FTP info and pretty much can't change pretty much anything on it.

If I managed it my name and other info would be up in the "Contact section."

Hey

Welcome to Newgrounds. I really like this song. Sounds like it's from the first Matrix (if I'm not mistaken?) Great job.

So what's up with this anyway? Are you really who you claim? You really should come up with some way to let us all know that you really are, to erase any doubt.

Anyway, GREAT song.

Rocky

ddavis responds:

I can give you scans of the Complete Matrix score CD cases, I can give you a bunch of photos, but unfortunately I can't go much further than that, can I.

I'll think of something...

*Gasp*

Does this mean you're back, Maestro?

Anway, on to the song. Beautiful melody, as usual. Quite sad, I think. I'm going to be honest with you, man. This song didn't really keep my attention that long. Sorry. I felt it was a bit too repetitive, despite the wonderful instrumentation and variation on the theme. I dunno, I just feel that you need something to...shake things up in the song. Not necessarily fast. But maybe a nice break from the main theme or something.

All in all, I like it. Great job, as always. 4/55 (isn't that bad)

Rocky

MaestroSorrow responds:

I am glad you can be honest with me, honesty is a far more useful critic then many would imagine. This song was not meant to be extremely captivating, more of a background lullaby as one though of a memory. A distracting song would destroy the train of thought, and allow minimul mental stimulation. I see where you are coming from though, thanks for your words.

I am not officialy back yet, another month left for my struggle, but I figure I should start easing my way back ^^.

Thanks for the review.

You're right

I think you are right in saying that this is not as good as the other waltz; however, it has a lot more potential than the other. If you expanded a little more on the melody, it could have been better. Perhaps you might have used some dissonance to add some tension for a bit, and then let it out with a gradual dip back into consonance. Again, with the distortion. The piece would sound a lot better without it.

Nice work. I wonder, will there be a 3rd movement?

Rocky

killtony999 responds:

thanks alot.... this is something i really didnt put much thought into, i had a starting idea and took it to town, basically.... i think youre right, i should put more dissonance, and maybe even an alternate melody somewhere....like i said this one was pretty much composed on the go....
Thanks

quite nice

Your songs, like almost every song on NG, has been degraded by the 0 voters. Don't let that discourage you! You make quite good music.

I am quite sure that waltzes don't come in movements; however, this is a nice song. It had a nice melody. Somehow, though, with the recording and whatnot, it is quite loud, and it's so loud that it caused some distortion throughout.

Nonetheless, I can notice the effort you put into this song. I feel you might have developed a little more with the melody, got into some chord progressions, maybe added a nice bridge that would take us away from the melody for a bit only to bring us back into it.

Nice piece. I hope you continue to make more.

Rocky

Wow

MaestroSorrow told me about this. I guess I get to be the first to vote on this. I really like the percussional work near the beginning.

INCREDIBLE story this song tells. Absolutely incredible and complex and powerful. Great job with that. You totally got me involved in the song.

I like the bell-like instrument with the plucked string instrument (sounds like a mandolin). Anyway, very cool.

I am just so overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this song. You two did a great job on this. You guys should do another collab sometime in the future.

Great song. 5/5

Rocky

Slayer-of-trolls responds:

That plucked string is actually a harp.

I would love to do another collab but I haven't seen MaestroSorrow online recently...
Thanks for the review.

I could not resist

You had a new song and I had to come listen. I'm listening right now for the first time, and you're right, I never heard anything like this from you before.

Wonderful theme. I'm wondering what kind of character this is for. OMG! Those voices sound good! Ha, I heard it loop! Nice try!

Anyway, the percussion works very well with the song. I like the choice of instruments with this one.

However, I would have liked to hear maybe a solo violin playing the theme, or perhaps with a little bit of piano in the background. But that is just my take on the song. Great theme. Has a powerful sense of nobility or something. I really like this song, MaestroSorrow. You get a 5, as usual. Keep it up.

MaestroSorrow responds:

I have been considering solo instruments, and a violin would probably make a very excellent edition. I will definatly consider it.

Yeah, looping failed, horribly X_x. thanks for the review ^^.

Hey guys, sorry I've been inactive recently. I'm working currently on two songs. So hopefully expect some submissions soon! Also, the best way to contact me is at my email: marshall.rocky@gmail .com If you PM me here, I may not read it for a while!
